The Yellow Bowl

Yellow bowl From penny rugs to baby shoes, the blanket stitch provided a new means of construction. My latest use is constructing  hand-stitched and laced little boxes and irregular  bowls. Both are layers of handmade paper and sometimes fabrics, stitched and laced together. Often, I embellish with beads, buttons, ribbons, and/or decorative threads.

The Red Tassel

The Red Tassel I have always been fascinated by quilting but just never had the patience for precisely fitting all those perfect little squares together. Then I discovered improvisational quilting. It’s like jazz, you compose as you go. I enjoy randomly stitching bits and pieces together then cutting them apart and stitching again, adding layers, and cutting apart . . . The Red Tassel was my first improvisational piece.
