Texture

Texture. I love texture. I’m one of those people that can’t walk through the fabric store without touching, feeling, enjoying the various textures. I especially love the texture of handmade papers. That was the basis for this series of three designs. For Roses Roses, I started with heavily textured Mulberry paper torn into three squares, I finished the edges with blanket stitch using a tea-dyed pearl cotton thread. The rose design is a hand-stitched nubby woolen yarn. Japanese rice paper is the basis for the Bo leaves and beads. Thai recycled fibers paper was embellished with golden glass beads. Rafi loops were added across the top for hanging.

These pieces are a perfect compliment to my rafia and ribbon wall hanging.
