Black | White Improv Quilt Series
I’ve always been fascinated by quilting, but traditional patterns, straight lines, and precise corners completely frustrated me. Then I discovered improvisational quilting—and everything clicked! Suddenly, I didn’t have to color inside the lines.
My very first improv piece -- The Red Tassel -- was in high-contrast black and white. I fell in love with the result and decided to do a series. Mixing bold black and white textiles creates such fun, organic, contemporary designs. Of course, I can’t resist adding the occasional pop of bright color—every quilt needs a little bling! Below is the series, so far, of Black | White quilted wall hangings.
