The Ant and the Grasshopper

The Spoonflower Design Challenge this week is:

"Teamwork" can be interpreted any way you like – from beavers building a dam to honeybees buzzing around their hive to make honey . . ."

or ants?

A previous challenge was Garden Party -- so I was already thinking about ants coming to the party.  And who hasn't seen them working as a team carrying cookie crumbs back to their nest? And from there my mind wandered to the tale of The Ant and the Grasshopper.

So my design challenge is ants working as a team collecting strawberries and blueberries while Mr. Grasshopper looks on.

I planned to mention the story when I posted my design prior to the challenge and thought exactly "how does the story go?". So it was time to Google it. Per Wikipedia, there are all sorts of versions and moral interpretations which were rather interesting.  I also found this interesting tidbit of information --

"There is a relationship between ants and grasshoppers because ants supply food to grasshoppers, and grasshoppers provide protection to ants." on Kadadl. (an interesting edutainment site)

So not only are you getting a preview of my interpretation of "teamwork" in the story of The Ant and The Grasshopper  -- there's also a bit of trivia for the day.   Enjoy!

You can vote for your favorite "teamwork" designs here.  And here is a link to my shop of designs currently available for sale.
